Optimizer ™ III
The Optimizer III consists of a programmable implantable pulse generator (IPG), 3 standard transvenous pacing leads, a battery charger, a programmer and the Monita System.
Delivers non-excitatory impulses to the right ventricular septum during the absolute refractory period.
Permits recharging at home by the patient.
Implant procedure similar to implantation procedures for other cardiac devices The Optimizer System is designed for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe heart failure.
The Optimizer technology is based on a new type of therapy known as Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM), in which non-excitatory impulses are delivered to the heart during a period of time called the absolute refractory period (ARP). Unlike a pacemaker, the CCM signals do not initiate a new heart beat. Rather, these signals are intended to enhance the strength of the heart. The ability of CCM signals to enhance heart strength is currently under investigation.
The Optimizer System consists of a programmable implantable pulse generator (IPG), a portable programmer, the Monita System, a charger and percutaneous pacemaker leads. The implantable pulse generator produces the CCM signals that are delivered to the heart through the pacemaker leads. The portable programmer allows medical personnel to customize the Optimizer signal parameters according to each patient's needs. The charger permits the patient to recharge the battery of the Optimizer III in the comfort of their home.
The Optimizer CCM therapy is intended to treat Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) patients. The treatment is intended to be additive to the benefits of standard pharmacologic treatments for heart failure. Impulse Dynamics has thus achieved significant progress in the field of cardiology with the advancement of Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM). Optimizer is a trademark of Impulse Dynamics N.V.
